Hello, and welcome to Sysnative!

The good news is that there is a high chance this is completely harmless and nothing to worry about. But let's check for sure :)

Please...

Export CBS folder

  1. Click the Start button
    StartButton_16x16.gif
    then click Computer.
  2. Double-click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder.
  3. Find and double click on the Logs folder.
  4. Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy.
  5. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS.
  6. Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
  7. A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created. Please upload it here.

Thank you!

Richard

Hello again :)

Thanks for that! Yep, nothing to worry about!

Two patch Tuesdays ago, one of the updates had a small bug in it which is causing SFC to incorrectly detect the file as corrupt. The file isn't actually corrupt, though.

This is what is happening here. Microsoft have been alerted to the issue, but whether or not they actually intend to ever fix it is up for debate.

Either way, the file is not corrupt, and will not cause you problems. It is just SFC giving a false positive. There is nothing to worry about, and every updated Vista computer in the world is currently doing this, just most people haven't run SFC and haven't realized. But the point is, there is nothing to worry about!

Take care!

Richard

I just joined this website's forum. I am Ted. How do I upload my compressed CBS folder to this forum?

Hello, I am Ron, good day; Can I upload my CBS folder to someone? I have been experiencing weird things and also have received the message
[h=2]Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them[/h]I have Vista Home Premium SP2 64bit
I am not a novice, I would not think, but I can not make out what this CBS.log means.
Any info on how to correct, or not to worry about it would be appreciated.

Ron

I Have the EXACT message, but I Imagine that my CBS File will read a different issue... AND it's 17.3 Mb, so it exceeds this forums attachment size limit.

My PC freezes for no particular reason every so often, and I have to force reboot my system which has caused problens... I don't know what may be the cause though... I would be eternally grateful for your insight...

This is a fairly new PC, and Dell stuck Win 8 by force. I was very, VERY, happy with Win 7 Pro...

Thank You for Reading!
